Leeds' Jemaine Beckford is once again in the running for the PFA Fans' Player of the month.

PFA Fans' Player of the Month Contenders: League One

When it comes to the list of players in contention for the League One PFA Fans' Player of the month, the name of Jemaine Beckford is rarely missing. The 25-year-old grabbed his eighth goal of the season with the winner against Norwich on Monday night and it remains to be seen if Leeds can hold on to the prolific front man when the January transfer window re-opens in January. Beckford has certainly come a long way since being plucked from non-league Wealdstone in 2006 - the same club that Vinnie Jones and Stuart Pearce both began their illustrious careers. Beckford may have enjoyed another impressive month, but he is still two goals adrift of the leading goalscorer in the division - Southend's Lee Barnard. The 25-year-old's 10 league goals this term have included his first hat-trick for the club against Leyton Orient and also a brace in the victory against highflying Bristol Rovers last weekend. In total, Barnard has scored 24 goals in 59 games for Southend and so far this season the Shrimpers have lost only one game in which he has scored.

Young midfielders

Two young midfield players also picking up plenty of votes this month are Leeds' winger Bradley Johnson and Adam Lallana of Southampton. After a loan spell at Brighton last year, Johnson has become United's first choice left-sided player since the start of the campaign and manager Simon Grayson's faith in the youngster has been rewarded with six goals already this term. Earlier this season the 22-year-old scored in the 3-0 win against Tranmere at Elland Road to equal a 40-year club record of 13 consecutive home wins, while his sixth goal came against Norwich on Monday. There are definite signs that the big black clouds above St Mary's are slowly starting to drift away and one of Saints' shining lights this season has been 21-year-old attacking midfielder Lallana. The England Under 21 is being widely tipped to have a bright future and already he is being strongly liked with a move to a Premiership club, with Fulham and Wolves two interested parties.
