FC Groningen, NEC Nijmegen & Heerenveen also progress

PSV Eindhoven, FC Twente and AZ Alkmaar all booked their places in the fourth round of the Dutch Cup on Wednesday night. Eredivisie leaders FC Twente proved too strong for minnows Capelle running out 3-0 winners thanks to two goals from Luuk De Jong and Nikita Rukavytsya's strike. PSV Eindhoven saw off fellow Eredivisie outfit Roda JC with a 2-0 victory. Goals from Stanislav Manolev and Jonathan Reis were enough to give PSV the win. AZ Alkmaar needed extra-time to see off lowly Spakenburg before prevailing 5-2. The Dutch champions needed extra-time goals from Jonathas (2) and Mounir El Hamdaoui to help end the resistance of brave Spakenburg. FC Groningen were the biggest winners of the night with a 5-1 thumping of fellow Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem. Thomas Enevoldsen, Leandro Bacuna, Fredrik Stenman, Andreas Granqvist and Goran Lovre all found the scoresheet for Groningen. NEC Nijmegen survived a scare before edging out Excelsior Rotterdam 2-1 after extra-time. Youssef El Akchaoui grabbed the winner a minute into the second period of extra-time to send NEC through to the next round. Heerenveen marched into the fourth round with a 4-2 victory over RBC Roosendaal. Daryl Janmaat, Goran Popov, Michal Papadopoulos and Michel Breuer were all on the mark for Heerenveen.
