Vale seek three points as Millers visit

Port Vale will be hoping to turn their recent run of draws into wins as they host high-flying Rotherham on Saturday. Vale have drawn their last four games but remain unbeaten in nine as they slowly progress up the League Two table. In contrast, their weekend counterparts have seen their fine early season form stutter recently as they have slipped out of the title race, yet they remain in fifth position. Vale manager Micky Adams will be without centre-back Gareth Owen for the clash after he was forced off with a broken cheekbone in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Bradford. The 27-year-old visited a specialist on Thursday to check on the severity of damage to the same cheekbone he broke while playing for Stockport in May 2008. The only other fit centre-half available to Adams is the transfer-listed Luke Prosser, which may see Vale's attentions switch to the loan market. However, there is good news for Adams who may be able to start Doug Loft after he recovered from a calf injury. The 22-year-old midfielder was an unused substitute against Bradford. Striker Geoff Horsfield is still blighted by a groin injury.

Rotherham news

Nick Fenton is expected to be passed fit for the trip. The defender continues to struggle with a slight groin strain, but boss Ronnie Moore is hoping he will be available to start at Vale Park. Fellow defender Nicky Law had to come off at half-time in last Sunday's FA Cup win at Wealdstone due to a leg injury, but he is also expected to be fit. Drewe Broughton was on target in the 3-2 victory against the non-League side and the much-travelled striker is expected to partner Adam Le Fondre in attack once again, with Tom Pope waiting in the wings. Midfielder Micky Cummins will definitely not feature as he continues to struggle with a groin problem.
