A heroic performance by goalkeeper Mikhael Jamiez-Ruiz earned Aldershot a 0-0 draw at Notts County.

County frustrated as they lose further ground in promotion race

Notts County failed to keep the pressure on the League Two pacesetters as a heroic performance from goalkeeper Mikhael Jamiez-Ruiz earned Aldershot a 0-0 draw. The Venezuelan shot-stopper denied County with a string of fine saves to secure a fourth consecutive clean sheet for the Shots. The Magpies remain sixth having stretched their unbeaten run to 11 but they have now won just one of their last seven league games after losing further ground in the promotion race. Jamiez-Ruiz tipped Lee Hughes' downward header over the bar in first-half injury time, as well as blocking stinging efforts from Luke Rodgers and Matt Ritchie after the break.

County also saw a Hughes header cleared off the line by Scott Donnelly in the 74th minute while substitute Craig Westcarr went close late on. Despite defending for long periods, the visitors could have broken the deadlock themselves just before the break as Donnelly's low drive was turned wide by Kasper Schmeichel. And as the Shots threatened on the counter-attack late on, they almost created a thrilling finale. Powerhouse striker Marvin Morgan twice went close, heading narrowly wide before firing across goal after out-muscling Jamie Clapham.
