Palermo have sacked Walter Zenga after Sunday's draw with Catania extended their winless run to four games. Zenga only took over at Palermo in the summer, but he has failed to impress with the Sicilian outfit sitting in 12th spot in Serie A The former Italy international had been given a vote of confidence ahead of the Catania game only for club president Maurizio Zamparini to change his mind. A statement from the club read: "Palermo announces it has dismissed Walter Zenga as coach of the first team. "The club wishes to thank Zenga for the work done and wishes him the best of luck in the future." Former Lazio coach Delio Rossi is understood to be the leading contender to replace Zenga at Palermo.
