Blues striker could finish career at Chelsea
Didier Drogba has told Marseille fans they should not expect him to return to the club.
The Ivorian is a club legend at the Stade Velodrome following his season with them in 2004.
He spent just one season with the club, but in that time he found the net over 30 times and led them to the Uefa Cup final.
He departed for Chelsea in 2004, but is still held in the highest esteem by l'OM's faithful.
However, Drogba insists that he thinks his constant links back to Marseille are only for the club's benefit.
"He (OM chairman) said he will study that possibility (a move back to Marseille)," he told
Le Journal du Dimanche.
"I have respect for him, but if it was only to make fans renew their season ticket, people are not fools anymore.
"During each summer it comes back. I don't reply to those.
"The truth is no-one contacted me.
"I am fine at Chelsea and extended my contract until 2012. I love France and Marseille, but the trend is that I should terminate my career at Chelsea."
Nothing Italian
Drogba has also confirmed to the Italian press he is not thinking about moving to Italy, despite previous contact with AC and Inter Milan.
"I'm sorry but I'm staying here," Drogba told
Tuttosport.
"I have just renewed my contract for another three seasons.
"It's true that in the past there was contact with two big Spanish clubs and two big Italian, sorry Milanese, clubs.
"But now the rumours aren't true any more and they are without any foundation.
"Who knows, maybe in 10 years: but I will be too old to play and maybe I could go as a coach."
