Ipswich Town could be without the services of goalkeeper Richard Wright for up to four months.
The former England international was forced off after just 25 minutes of the Tractor Boys' 2-1 win at Cardiff on Sunday.
He has since undergone a scan on a knee problem, and the results are not favourable for Roy Keane's side.
Ipswich are now left desperately short of keeping options, with Asmir Begovic having been recalled from a loan spell at Portman Road by his parent club Portsmouth last week.
That means Arran Lee-Barrett, who made his debut against the Bluebirds at the weekend, is the only senior keeper left on Keane's books.
The Blues may now look to make an emergency loan signing in an effort to reinforce their numbers, with club physio Matt Byard confirming that Wright is set to be out of action for the foreseeable future.
"Richard has a partial tear to his cruciate ligament," he told the club's
official website.
"We will manage his recovery conservatively and at this stage we are very hopeful that he will not require surgery.
"You can never be exact in a recovery time but with this type of injury, we expect Richard to be out for around four months."
