Marc Crosas refuses to give up hope of Celtic qualifying through their Europa League section.
Midfielder not given up on qualification hope
Marc Crosas insists Celtic still believe they can progress to the next round of the Europa league despite an extremely unlikely task ahead of the Hoops.
Tony Mowbray's SPL giants are in a similar predicament to what Liverpool were in last month as their hopes of European progression hang by a thread.
The Reds' UEFA Champions League fate was out of their hands as they beat Debrecen last Tuesday, only to be dumped out of the competition by Fiorentina as they overcome Lyon.
Celtic's situation is almost identical - they sit bottom of Group C with two points, five behind second-placed Hamburg and the Parkhead outfit must win their final two games while hoping the Bundesliga side lose both of their fixtures.
Before a trip to Rapid Vienna is a home clash with section leaders Hapoel Tel Aviv on Wednesday and Crosas is upbeat on his side's slim chance of joining Liverpool in the next round.
Chance
"I think we still have a chance," the Spanish midfielder said. "The table also says that we still have a chance and so we need to do our job, win our games and then we will see.
"We will try and win tomorrow and see if we are playing for pride (in the last game) or still have a chance, I think the team is confident of getting our first win.
"When you play in Europe it is at a higher level and it is the small things that make the difference.
"Maybe we didn't score with the chances that we had in games and that's why (we are at the bottom).
"But I think we have done well in all the matches, even in the first game away to Hapoel where we lost 2-1.
"We had the chances to finish the game at 1-0 and if we had scored the second goal or the game had finished like that, I'm sure the campaign would have been different."
While Crosas may be in the minority of people at Celtic Park on Wednesday night who believe the home side have a chance of reaching the knockout stages, the midfielder insists the expectancy will be the same as ever.
"We have the same pressure in every game," he said. "We are Celtic, one of the best teams in Europe, and we need to try and win every game we play and that is the pressure."
