1968: Born Glasgow, October 11.
1984: Begins career as a youth player at Rangers but fails to break into the first team.
1990: After a spell on loan at Exeter, MacPherson joins Kilmarnock.
1997: May - Helps Kilmarnock win the Scottish Cup for the first time in 68 years.
2001: July - After making more than 350 appearances for Killie, MacPherson moves to Dunfermline.
2003: June - Joins St Mirren as player-coach.
November 1 - Makes final professional appearance in 2-1 First Division win over Raith Rovers.
December 18 - Appointed player-manager of St Mirren following resignation of John Coughlin.
Retirement
2004: May - Retires from playing.
2005: May - St Mirren finish second in the First Division.
2006: May - Saints win the First Division, completing a double after winning the Scottish Challenge Cup.
2007: February - Fined £500 by the Scottish Football Association after describing an assistant referee as "arrogant".
2007: May - St Mirren retain Scottish Premier League status with a 3-2 victory over Motherwell in penultimate match of the season.
2008: May - Saints finish 10th in SPL.
2009: April - St Mirren lose to Rangers in first Scottish Cup semi-final since 1987.
Survival
May - Saints finish 11th in the SPL, staying up by just two goals after losing their final game of the season.
2010: January - MacPherson becomes the longest-serving manager in the SPL following Jim Jefferies' departure from Kilmarnock.
March - St Mirren lose to nine-man Rangers in the final of the Scottish League Cup.
May 5 - Saints draw 0-0 at Hamilton in their penultimate game of the season to secure another SPL campaign. They eventually finish 10th.
May 11 - St Mirren announce they have parted company with MacPherson.
