Pretty Green

There was no little scepticism abound when Liam Gallagher announced plans to break into the fashion industry but with his latest Autumn/Winter '10 collection the tide of opinion is starting to turn in his favour.
While previous collections have focussed on his Green Label range, which are primarily everyday pieces, this latest range has seen Pretty Green develop their Black Label brand, with a series of finely tailored jackets catching the eye in particular.
Any sartorially aware terrace dweller would be happy to retire their Stone Island for Pretty Green, with a delectable collection of Peacoats the standout pieces for many.
They're not cheap, but in combining finest British tailoring with an eye for detail that is only noticeable with top end designer ware, it's not surprising either. As any top manager would concede 'you get what you pay for' and there are few better jackets on the marketplace this winter.
While it would have been easy to include some ostentatious pieces for quick press and easy column inches, on the contrary Pretty Green look to be playing the long game in producing ranges that are simple, wearable, stylish and with standout attention to detail.
It's a measure of how far Pretty Green has come as a brand that style bible GQ - not known to give praise to anyone but the top fashion houses - has been complimentary about the cord sand peacoat (pictured).
The Lennon jacket, a take on the military look made famous by the Beatles star, has been a big favourite with the punters; don't be surprised to spot a number popping up at grounds near you this season. This season has seen a range of knitwear developed too, with the first lot of results getting the thumbs up by those in the know.
If your pockets can't stretch to some of the pricier numbers in the Black Label collection, the Green Label range has numerous affordable pieces that are well worth a look.
The simple but stylish polo shirts are as good, if not better, than other similar designer products on the market, while a new denim range (still largely in its infancy) looks as though it has also delivered.
Finally, if your Gazelles are not providing the best protection from the elements this winter the Desert boots are a must. Liam worked closely with the Clarks Originals design team to develop his take on a British classic - much imitated but never bettered. The boot has a wider and more rounded toe and lower heel, creating a slimmer profile than the original. In short, they're rivalled by only Puma Kings as being the ultimate boot!
