Swiss defender to make German switch in the summer

FC Basle defender Beg Ferati will be playing his football in Germany next season with Freiburg. The Bundesliga outfit have completed a deal which will see the 24-year-old join their ranks in July on a three-year contract. Freiburg made their move after being impressed by Ferati's performances in this season's UEFA Champions League. They feel the Swiss centre-half has the potential to be a key man for them in the future and are delighted to have put an agreement in place.

Philosophy

"Beg Ferati is a young, experienced professional," Freiburg's director of sport Dirk Dufner told the club's official website. "He will strengthen the centre of our defence. Beg is the kind of player who fits in with our philosophy." Kosovo-born Ferati has played 51 games for Basle since joining them as a 19-year-old in 2005. He is a former Switzerland U21 international who will be hoping to break into the senior fold during his time at the Badenova Stadion.
