Blues keeper looking to reach Carling Cup final
Birmingham City keeper Ben Foster insists the team remain firmly in the hunt to reach the Carling Cup final despite losing the first leg of the semi finals.
Blues came from a goal down to equalise at Upton Park thanks to Liam Ridgewell's goal, but disaster struck for Foster as he produced a rare mistake.
The former Manchester United shot-stopper allowed Carlton Cole's tame shot to squirm through his grasp and he concedes he made a meal of the save.
However, he puts the blunder down as a one-off mistake and insists confidence remains high ahead of the second leg at St Andrews.
Too comfortable
"The score was 1-1 at the time and it looked like there was only one team that was going to go on and win the game," Foster told
The People.
"But then I make a mistake. Maybe it happened because when things are going well you can get a little bit too comfortable.
"But it was a freak one-off and all I can say is that we are definitely in this tie.
"Going back to our place you can be sure that we will still be full of confidence.
"There is plenty of life in this time yet."
Bounce back
Blues boss Alex McLeish is also backing his troops to respond from their Upton Park disappointment by securing a positive result in the home leg on Wednesday.
"We have a bunch of players who will bounce back well," McLeish said. "There is evidence today they have that in their locker.
"People will say taking this drubbing will affect their confidence, but that is not the feeling I got from senior players in the dressing room. They were more angry than anything else."
