United defender looking to be positive at Stamford Bridge

Nemanja Vidic believes Manchester United should adopt a positive approach for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final with Chelsea on Wednesday. The Blues will hope to establish a lead on home soil to take to Old Trafford for the return match, but Vidic is confident United can score at least one away goal. Having recovered from 2-0 down to beat West Ham 4-2 at Upton Park in the Premier League on Saturday, the Serbian defender feels an attacking philosophy will again pay dividends at Stamford Bridge. "Obviously, it will be a very important game for us and again, an away game. I think we can be positive after the West Ham performance," he said. "We scored four goals and we played very good football and I think this is the way we have to play against Chelsea. "The defending part, we need to improve a bit more, but we will be all right."

Psychological advantage

Vidic is wary of the threat Chelsea will present, though, and accepts that Carlo Ancelotti's side may have a slight psychological advantage following their recent league win over United. He added: "Maybe, in terms of the results. In the last few games, they had good results. "But this is the Champions League and we have to score a goal - this is the name of the game for us. "It helps for the next game."
