Leeds boss has no plans to ditch ex-Swindon striker

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson insists striker Billy Paynter remains part of his first-team plans. The former Swindon Town forward struggled to make an impact during his first season at Elland Road. An injury last summer curtailed his ability to impress early on and he ended the campaign with just one league goal to his name. There had been speculation Leeds would offload Paynter, although Grayson has confirmed he still rates the hit-man. Sheffield United have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, but the Leeds boss says he has fielded no enquiries.

Enquiries

"I've had no enquiries for Billy," Grayson told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "He had a stop-start season last year but I'm not looking to get rid of him because he's a good player. "When he did come into the team, he showed his quality."
