Midfielder signs one-year deal at Etihad Stadium

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has completed his shock move to Manchester City. The Englishman's one-year deal at the Etihad Stadium represents one of the most surprising signings of the summer. Injury-plagued Hargreaves had left United at the end of last season when his contract expired, but, having previously released videos on YouTube, he has convinced City of his fitness. The 30-year-old won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League in his first season with United in 2007/08 after leaving Bayern Munich. Hargreaves was also an integral part of England's 2006 World Cup campaign, but he played just 11 minutes in his last two seasons with United due serious knee injuries. A statement on City's official website read: "The England midfielder joins as a free agent having left Manchester United at the end of last season. He has signed a one-year contract."
