Tottenham midfielder admits there was a lot of interest
Tottenham midfielder Sandro has denied holding talks with Roma over a possible move during the transfer window.
The Serie A side were reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder this summer, although a move failed to materialise.
While Sandro admits he would love to test himself in Italian football one day, he insists he never came close to leaving White Hart Lane.
"Roma were not the only side interested in me, there were others too," Sandro told
Radio Mana Sport 24. "The problem was that no offer arrived.
"Nevertheless, I'm happy that a big club like Roma were keen, especially as they play in an important championship.
Top-four aim
"I'd certainly like to play in Italy at some point in the future. It would be another forward step in my career."
In the meantime, the 22-year-old says he is focused on helping Spurs improve on last season's fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
He said: "I'm convinced we'll have a good season at Tottenham. It's a great club, with great players. I believe we can finish in the top three or four this term."
Sandro is currently recovering from a knee operation that he underwent in July after picking up an injury whilst training with Brazil at the Copa America.
