City boss not pleased with referee's decision during Chelsea loss

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was disappointed to have his side's undefeated record in the Premier League ended on Monday but is hopeful of conceiving another winning run. City went down 2-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge despite taking the lead through Mario Balotelli in the second minute. Goals from Raul Meireles and Frank Lampard combined with the sending off of Gael Clichy just before the hour mark saw the Citizens suffer their first loss in the league this season, bringing an end to their 14-match unbeaten run. Mancini was understandably dejected to see City lose at one of their title rivals but remains hopeful of starting on yet another similar streak.

Hopeful

"We can do nothing (about losing the record)," Mancini told Sky Sports. "We are at the top and we knew that it was possible to lose one game. "I think that tonight after the Chelsea game we should draw or win (the next match). We have worked well until now and we should continue. "I hope that we can go another 14 games without losing."
Mistake
Mancini also pointed to a penalty appeal turned down by Mark Clattenburg in the first half when City were still 1-0 up. The referee failed to acknowledge that David Silva was brought down inside the Chelsea 18-yard box by Jose Bosingwa. "The penalty decision in the first half was the turning point," Mancini said. "He (the referee) was there and could not see it when he was three metres away from the incident." Monday's result in London means that City are now just two points clear of second-placed Manchester United in pole position, while Chelsea are seven points off the pace in third.
