Bristol City manager Derek McInnes insists there has been no bid from Wolves for Nicky Maynard and is not giving up hope of keeping the striker.
Maynard was recently made available for transfer by the Robins after rejecting an extension to his contract which expires at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a string of clubs, including Championship rivals Ipswich Town and Leicester City, and Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.
Wolves are also rumoured to be ready to offer the former Crewe Alexandra forward a route to the top flight and were reported to have bid £1.5million.
However, after Maynard scored an injury-time winner against Millwall on Tuesday, McInnes rejected claims there have been any offers for the player.
No truth
McInnes believes it is not a foregone conclusion that Maynard will leave Ashton Gate in January and remains determined to keep him at the club.
"There is no truth in these rumours," said McInnes in the
Bristol Evening Post. "As things stand, we have still not received a single bid for Nicky Maynard.
"Players like him are few and far between and, of course, I want to keep him here if I can.
"I cannot control what other people do, but Nicky is a very good player and I want to work with good players.
"There is a chance he could still be here after January and, if that is the case, we will try and persuade him to sign a new contract."
