Potters striker hopes to get international call-up after Capello exit
Stoke City striker Peter Crouch believes Fabio Capello's exit as England manager gives him reason to reignite his international dreams.
The 31-year-old has 42 England caps but has failed to feature for the national side since his last outing in November 2010 when he played in a friendly against France.
Despite scoring seven goals under Capello, Crouch has not appeared in the England set-up over the last 14 months.
However, with Capello handing in his resignation to the Football Association last Wednesday, the former Tottenham forward has renewed his hope of playing international football.
Hope
"I've not been in the last few squads," he said.
"Whoever takes over hopefully will start picking me again but it's only what you do for your club that warrants getting in the England set-up again so I've got to play well for Stoke, score goals and hopefully that will come."
Crouch has scored 22 international goals, 18 of which came in his first 17 starts in the Three Lions jersey.
And Crouch's England dreams could be realised once again with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp the firm favourite to take over with the duo having worked together at both Portsmouth and White Hart Lane.
The tall frontman will aim to end a six-game goalless drought on Thursday as he lines up to face Valencia with Stoke having reached the last 32 of the Europa League.
