Lopez impresses Del Bosque

Full-back Iraola certain to miss Euros

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque refused to concede that Adrian Lopez may have played himself into the final 23-man squad to be named on Sunday after an impressive international debut. The Atletico Madrid striker scored and then won a penalty which Santi Cazorla converted as Spain beat Serbia 2-0 to get their European Championship preparations off to a winning start. Del Bosque was without his Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao regulars and with Chelsea pair Fernando Torres and Juan Mata watching from the stands, he gave five players their first caps for the European and World champions at the AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Despite flat performances from Roberto Soldado and Alvaro Negredo in the first-half before both were replaced at the break, Del Bosque says he will judge which strikers he takes to Poland and Ukraine based on their form over the season as a whole.

Chance

He told AS: "The most real type of training possible is a match and we have simply completed a cycle of training sessions with a friendly. "We brought Adrian with us for this reason and he has the same chance as he did before today. "Soldado also did well against Venezuela and Negredo with his club. I will value what they have done throughout the season." Adrian himself however is hoping that his impression will be recognised and he is desperate to go to his first senior international tournament after guiding the Spanish Under-21s to European Championship glory last summer. "I am very happy to have debuted with a goal. The manager gives the list tomorrow (Sunday) and I am very excited. I would be fantastic to go to the Euros. "I am happy with my performance this year with Atletico and for this work with my club I have entered the squad. "Now though the competition is of a very high level and it is good that the manager has a lot to choose from. It will be difficult for him to do so."
Injury
Del Bosque did though confirm that Athletic Bilbao right-back Andoni Iraola is almost certain to miss out on the squad due to an injury he picked up in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on Friday night. Iraola's absence should mean a place for Juanfran, who also made his international debut against Serbia. "It seems that according to some information Iraola has a problem. He played the 90 minutes in the final and it seems there is a small physical problem, but we will see. "Of the rest there is no-one carrying injuries so those that continue and those that go will not be down to physical problems."
