Burnley manager Sean Dyche was full of praise for his players and the fans after his side were relegated from the Premier League

Sean Dyche insists Burnley will come back stronger after being relegated from the Premier League.

The Clarets did their best to keep their survival hopes alive as Danny Ings’ goal secured a 1-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday.

But results elsewhere sealed Burnley's fate and means they are unable to escape the drop with just two games of the season remaining.

Dyche, though, said he was proud of his side's efforts and expects them to bounce back next season.

“There is a real mental resilience about the players and they will have grown from this experience, as will I, as will the staff, the fans, the club - everything about the club is in a whole better place than it was,” he told Sky Sports.

“We have tried to build something, it hasn’t kept us in the division but there are great signs of a club that can move forward beyond this moment.”

Despite not picking up enough points to stay in the division, Burnley have won plenty of admirers for their gutsy performances this season.

“Over the season we have been competitive in virtually every game,” said Dyche. “The margins have caught us out, when we have needed to take chances, make big decisions that count, we haven’t quite.

“Some of that is experience and some of that is quality and delivery of quality, my players have quality, it’s delivering that at the key moments and that’s where we fell short.”

Dyche also praised the support of the Burnley fans, saying: "Fans can get rattled very quickly, I always used to think when I looked at managers it was an 8-10 game cycle now I think it’s two games, but our fans have been amazing, they have stood with the players every inch of the way and have been a great advert for real true support.”
