Cobblers sweat on survival

Northampton Town are not yet safe from relegation after a 1-0 home defeat by local rivals MK Dons.

Wilbraham goal settles tight encounter

Northampton must get something at Leeds on the final day of the season or hope results go their way if they are to avoid the drop after a 1-0 defeat by MK Dons. A solitary goal from Aaron Wilbraham condemned Cobblers to the defeat which means they still need a point to guarantee their League One status. MK Dons bossed the first half as Sam Baldock missed a sitter and then Jason Crowe cleared off the line from Mark Wright before Wilbraham got the only goal in the 34th minute turning home a cross from Jason Puncheon. Luke Guttridge missed Northampton's best chance of the half while Baldock should have added a second for the visitors after the break but Chris Dunn saved well. Northampton's late pressure almost paid off with Guttridge having a goal-bound shot blocked, Adam Watts heading wide and then having another effort cleared off the line by Luke Chadwick and Dunn went up for a late corner but headed over.
