Lita's injury-time goal seals Norwich success

Norwich City left it late before securing a 2-1 victory over struggling Doncaster Rovers at Carrow Road. In-form Leroy Lita was the hero for the Canaries with an injury-time winner after Antoine Sibierski had previously cancelled out Brian Stock's second-half penalty. Norwich midfielder Sammy Clingan's wayward free-kick in the sixth minute was an early glimmer of a chance, while the Canaries made much the brighter start without seriously threatening Neil Sullivan in the visitors' goal. Doncaster wrestled an equal share of possession as the first half wore on, and Lita briefly stirred a restless Carrow Road crowd in the 33rd minute with an angled shot from inside the penalty area. Doncaster defender James Chambers was forced off through injury and replaced by O'Connor, but there was little else to report except for Gary Doherty's header from Stefanovic's free-kick which was routinely held by Sullivan.

Brilliant save

Former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder Sibierski livened things up three minutes into the second half with a volley from close range that was brilliantly saved by Sullivan. Sibierski should have scored, but his effort marked a increase in the tempo with Rovers striker Price thwarted at the other end by Canaries goalkeeper David Marshall, who parried the Welshman's shot from 12 yards. Price then headed over the crossbar from James Coppinger's free-kick and the latter saw his 20-yard shot fly wide soon after as the visitors showed signs of an upset. Lita headed wide as the game entered the final quarter, but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 77th minute.
Well beaten
Price raced through to meet a long clearance and was hauled down in the penalty area by Stefanovic, who had been well beaten for pace, and Stock slammed home his spot-kick. Stefanovic was booked, but the Serbian defender was lucky not to have been sent off for his professional foul. Price went close to doubling Doncaster's lead with a shot from inside the area, but Clingan went close with a 20-yard shot for Norwich, who then hauled themselves level thanks to Sibierski's lightning reflexes. Clingan skewed his shot and the ball looped up for the Frenchman to head over Sullivan in fine style from 12 yards, and deep in time added on Lita blasted home Sibierski's cross to snatch all the points.
