Alex pick up priceless point to leave Royle still looking for first win

Byron Moore salvaged a precious point for Crewe as they claimed a 1-1 draw at Oldham in their long-running battle against relegation. Moore seized on poor Latics defending less than two minutes from time and calmly guided the equaliser inside the far post from 12 yards. Crewe had dominated the second half but Calvin Zola missed a sitter and they had penalty appeals waved away after Shaun Miller was felled by Reuben Hazell. Oldham paid the price for sitting back on their lead after breaking through in the 41st minute when Hazell headed home Deane Smalley's right-wing cross. Smalley could have scored from six yards but Oldham, who at one stage of the season were top of League One, have now gone nine games without victory. Crewe are also on a lengthy winless run but they shaded the chances at Boundary Park and deserved their late point, courtesy of Moore's fourth goal of the campaign.
