Stuart Pearce's men remain unbeaten in Group 3

An Adam Johnson strike secured a point for England Under 21s as they came from behind to draw 1-1 against Portugal at Estadio Municipal de Agueda. The home side went ahead early on through Vieirinha, however Johnson netted in the second half to retain England's unbeaten record in Group 3. Stuart Pearce's side were stunned after just three minutes when Craig Gardner felled Vieirinha in the box; with the 21-year-old winger stepping up confidently to slot past the outstretched Joe Hart. Theo Walcott - playing a lone striker's role - then had the ball in the back of the net after a back-heel, but his effort was ruled out for a foul on keeper Ricardo Batista. David Wheater then headed over from a Tom Huddlestone corner, before Moutinho almost took advantage of a Hart error but the Manchester City man reacted well to deny the Sporting Lisbon star. Walcott was involved once more as Johnson threaded him through, however Batista denied the pacey forward. Within four minutes of the second half England were level courtesy of an excellent far post volley from Johnson. Buoyed by their equaliser, England pushed for a second with Huddlestone very much involved, while Walcott was thwarted once more by Batista. Portugal also threatened to clinch a success when Tiago Targino's scissor kick flew just over the bar in the final stages.
