Teenage star Balanta on target

Nottingham Forest remain bottom of the Championship table after going down 2-1 at Queens Park Rangers. Teenage striker Angelo Balanta opened the scoring just after the break and Akos Buzsaky added the second as QPR ended a run of four games with victory. Nottingham Forest pulled one back when Lewis McGugan smashed home a free-kick - but Colin Calderwood's men came up short again. The Midlanders did show some early attacking ambition, and Rangers' former Tottenham goalkeeper Radek Cerny kept out a shot from debutant Paul Anderson before Nathan Tyson fired wide. Rangers' best chance of a poor first half fell to Dexter Blackstock in the 20th minute, the six-goal striker meeting Damien Delaney's cross at the near post and forcing Smith to tip his toe-poke around the post. Moments later Forest midfielder Chris Cohen almost found the net when he latched onto a poor clearance from Damion Stewart, but Cerny did well to beat his header out. Smith was then almost embarrassed by a long-range piledriver from Buszaky, which the former Southampton goalkeeper gathered at the second attempt. But the second half began with a bang when the Forest defence failed to deal with Fitz Hall's long throw.

Balanta strike

The ball was flicked on by Delaney and Balanta was on hand to prod home in a crowded goalmouth for his second goal of the season and the third of his career. And Buzsaky doubled Rangers' lead with a superb strike from 20 yards on the hour, the Hungary international deliberately placing his effort beyond Smith and into the far corner. To Forest's credit they continued to attack and Tyson and Luke Chambers went close before McGugan grabbed a consolation with a fine free-kick.
