Rangers and Dundee United share points in six-goal thriller

Kevin Thomson stole the show when he earned Rangers a last-gasp share of the points against Dundee United in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Ibrox. Steven Davis and Sasa Papac both netted for Rangers but a double from Francesco Sandaza and a Scott Robertson strike looked certain to earn United victory until Thomson's injury-time leveller. The draw means that Rangers trail Celtic by two points at the summit of the Scottish Premier League. This game was initially postponed as a mark of respect following the death of United chairman Eddie Thompson but it was back to business for both clubs at Ibrox. Walter Smith's men took the lead after just 11 minutes when Davis ran onto Kenny Miller's pass and rifled into the keeper's bottom right corner from the edge of the area. The home side's joy was short-lived as United levelled six minutes later when Sandaza collected Warren Feeney's pass before firing home from 16 yards.

      Strike

Kris Boyd thought he had restored Rangers' lead when he had the ball in the back of the net 90 seconds later but the assistant referee had already flagged for offside. Instead it was United who took the lead after 27 minutes when Sandaza pounced to finish after Rangers keeper Allan McGregor parried Robertson's strike. Rangers equalised through an unlikely source when Papac claimed his first goal for the club after a flick on from Nacho Novo after 37 minutes. The second half began with the home side dominating but found Lukasz Zaluska inspired in the United goal. Unfortunately for Rangers, McGregor was not quite as effective and United took the lead for the second time when a long throw from Dixon saw the ball drop to Robertson who made no mistake on 59 minutes. Kyle Lafferty was then thrown into the action as a last throw of the dice but it was Thomson who salvaged a point for Rangers in dramatic style when he rifled home from 22 yards deep into injury time.
