Paul McShane and Danny Williams will be back in the Reading squad for the visit of Preston.

Defender McShane and midfielder Williams have completed three-match bans following their recent on-pitch bust-up at Middlesbrough.

Winger Hal Robson-Kanu could feature after a month out with a calf injury but full-back Jordan Obita will miss out again due to a hamstring problem.

Boss Brian McDermott is hopeful striker Deniss Rakels will overcome a knock in time to play.

Preston manager Simon Grayson will run the rule over a series of injury doubts before naming his side as he looks to end a five-game winless run.

Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard missed last Friday night's 1-0 home defeat by Burnley with a shoulder problem and was replaced by Chris Kirkland, while defender Marnick Vermijl also sat out with a foot injury, and both men will be assessed.

Midfielder Ben Pearson rolled an ankle just 10 minutes into the clash with the Clarets and with natural replacement John Welsh sidelined with a calf strain, Daniel Johnson took over, and Grayson will check on that pair too.
