Feyenoord kept up their optimistic pursuit of the leaders with a 1-0 away win over RKC Waalwijk.

But RKC slip further into the relegation mire

Feyenoord kept up their optimistic pursuit of the Eredivisie leaders with a 1-0 away win that further dented RKC Waalwijk's hopes of avoiding relegation. Mario Been's fourth-placed side moved to within four points of fierce foes Ajax, who they drew 1-1 against last weekend, thanks to Jon Dahl Tomasson's goal. However, Been's men still trail leaders PSV Eindhoven and Steve McClaren's FC Twente, who are only separated by goal difference, by 13 points. Defeat contrastingly ensured home side RKC remained five points adrift of next-to-bottom Willem II having played one game more than their relegation rivals. Former Newcastle and AC Milan striker Tomasson scored the only goal of the game when the Denmark international netted in the 48th minute. Feyenoord had ex-Wigan player Denny Landzaat sent off six minutes from full-time, but RKC could not make their brief numerical advantage count.
