Marcus Stewart grabbed a brace as Exeter City twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Rochdale. Adam Le Fondre fired the hosts ahead from the spot in the 83rd minute only for Marcus Stewart to level within a minute. The hosts shaded the first half and took a one-goal lead into the break courtesy of Lee Thorpe's opener after 27 minutes. He muscled his way through a crowd of players to glance home after Rory McArdle had headed Mark Jones' corner into the mix. Rochdale's goal came just minutes after Exeter's best attempt of the half, a stunning 30-yard free-kick from Dean Moxey that thumped against the crossbar with Tom Kennedy scrambling the ball off the goalline as Steve Basham looked to capitalise on the rebound. Exeter levelled in the 55th minute. Adam Stansfield's cross was headed goalward by Stewart, his effort hitting McArdle and rebounding straight to the former Ipswich striker's feet, making no mistake as he poked home from seven yards. Le Fondre looked to have handed Rochdale the points when he scored from the rebound after his penalty was parried by Paul Jones but seconds later Nathan Stanton brought down Stuart Fleetwood and Stewart earned a point for his side.
