Five wins from six for Rochdale after 2-0 win over Luton

Rochdale made it five wins from their last six games with a 2-0 victory over Luton at Spotland. A goal in the opening two minutes of the game from striker Lee Thorpe provided the ideal start for Dale. A quickly-taken free kick from Clark Keltie set Scott Wiseman free down the right and his cross towards the near post was met by Thorpe, whose diving header beat Conrad Logan. The hosts came close to a second when Will Buckley's wonderfully flighted pass to Gary Jones was turned into the path of Thorpe who lifted the ball over the advancing Logan, but over the bar. Rochdale were awarded a penalty in the 59th minute when Ian Roper fouled Rory McArdle and Adam Le Fondre, fresh from a midweek hat-trick against Barnet in the FA Cup, notched his fourth goal of the week from the spot, driving the ball down the middle of Logan's goal. Luton's best chance came in the 78th minute when Dean Talbot's bullet header from eight yards was superbly saved by Sam Russell.
