Ross County 1-0 Dunfermline: Raffaele De Vita on target in Scottish Cup replay win
Wednesday 13 January 2016 14:55, UK
Ross County advanced in the Scottish Cup after they beat Dunfermline 1-0 at the Global Energy Stadium in their fourth-round replay.
The sides drew 2-2 in Saturday's opening encounter and the game in Dingwall proved to be equally close-fought, with a 70th-minute goal from substitute Raffaele De Vita enough to see County through.
Jim McIntyre's side will now face either Linlithgow Rose or Forfar at home in the next round.
Dunfermline could have won a cagey affair when Faissal El Bakhtaoui wasted an excellent chance as he drilled his shot straight at Stags' goalkeeper Scott Fox.
The visitors were duly punished in the next attack, with Italian De Vita on hand to volley home after Athletic failed to clear their lines.
Defeat for the League One leaders was their first in 14 games but their opponents are going well in both cup competitions.
A Scottish League Cup semi-final against Celtic awaits them on January 31 before they compete in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup the following weekend.
