Port Vale maintained their slim hopes of a late dash into the play-offs with a well-earned 2-1 win over Rotherham. Quick-fire goals in the second half from Craig Davies and Marc Richards fired the visitors to the win, despite a late fightback from the hosts, who were given belief by Joshua Walker's 81st minute goal. With the scores still level, the hosts had a great opportunity to open the scoring after 22 minutes, but Craig McAllister needed an extra touch to bring the ball under control and the chance was gone. And two goals in as many minutes by the visitors turned the game on its head. A 59th minute corner was cleared by Rotherham, but the ball came in again from Dodds on the left, Pablo Mills missed his clearance and Davies was left with the simplest of close-range tap-ins. Two minutes later Tommy Fraser's free-kick on the left cleared everyone and picked out Richards on the far post and he volleyed past Andy Warrington. Walker gave Rotherham hope 10 minutes from time with a perfectly flighted free-kick from 22 yards out, but the revival the goal sparked was too little too late for the home side.
