Salford and Macclesfield shared the points after a dull game at the Peninsula Stadium.
Financially-plagued Macclesfield, without a win since mid-October, twice went close through David Fitzpatrick and Connor Kirby before Salford sprang into life midway through the first-half.
Left-back Ibou Touray played in Adam Rooney, but the Irish striker flicked the ball on to the roof of the net.
Minutes later, Jake Jervis' free-kick found Nathan Pond, but the centre-half saw his effort go wide of the post.
Macclesfield, who have recorded only two goals in their last five league games, came closest to breaking the deadlock in when Jak McCourt launched a thunderbolt, only for Salford goalkeeper Chris Neal to make a good save to his left.
The Ammies twice nearly took the lead as full-time approached when Lois Maynard headed the ball on to the post, before Danny Lloyd's volley was parried wide by Silkmen goalkeeper Owen Evans.
