Ronan Murray fired Notts County into the third round of the JPT as the Magpies came from behind to beat Scunthorpe 2-1.

The defeat at Glanford Park increases the pressure on under-fire Iron boss Russ Wilcox after a poor start to the season. Scunthorpe took the lead after 15 minutes through Paddy Madden, who took advantage of a slip by defender Haydn Hollis to finish with aplomb past Fabian Speiss. County levelled seven minutes later when the Iron failed to clear a Zeli Ismail corner and on-loan Stephen McLaughlin crashed home from 12 yards. Then after half an hour, a wonderful ball over the top by Drissa Traore found Murray and he ran on to lob Bobby Olejnik to give Notts the lead. Rory Fallon saw a shot hacked off the goalline early in the second half as Scunthorpe sought a leveller, before Madden was denied by the linesman's flag as he headed home Gary McSheffrey's cross. Olejnik then saved from sub Garry Thompson after the ex-Iron midfielder was played in by Traore, while at the other end Speiss denied Fallon before saving from Madden. Andrew Boyce had the ball in the net five minutes from time but the hosts were denied again as Speiss was fouled by the big defender.
