Exeter's Marcus Stewart headed a late equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury.

Striker grabs a point for Grecians Marcus Stewart headed a late equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw and keep Exeter in front of Shrewsbury in the League Two promotion race. The former Ipswich striker nodded home from close range in the 83rd minute after Matt Taylor headed an Alex Russell corner back across goal. It was just reward for Exeter who poured forward in search of a leveller after falling behind five minutes into the second half. Troy Archibald-Henville brought down Moses Ashikodi in the area and Grant Holt kept his cool to slam home the penalty for his 23rd goal of the season. Exeter missed a golden opportunity to take a first-half lead when they failed to put away a penalty of their own. Shane Cansdell-Sherriff was adjudged to have handled a Stewart shot but Matt Gill thumped his spot-kick against the bar. Shrewsbury's best first-half chances fell to striker Holt who was twice denied by sharp saves from Grecians keeper Paul Jones.
