Church goal wins tight affair at Edgeley Park

Leyton Orient hung on to beat Stockport 1-0 as they sealed another priceless three points in their continued battle against the drop. Geraint Williams' side secured their third straight win to pull seven points above the drop zone as County missed late chances to equalise. Orient came agonisingly close to opening the scoring in stoppage time at the end of a dour first half when Tamika Mkandawire headed the ball across the face of Stockport's goal, but the lunging Jordan Spence could only head an effort wide from just yards out. Earlier chances had been at a premium at Edgeley Park. Greg Tansey curled a disappointing shot over for Stockport, before Jason Demetriou replied when he fired a 20-yard drive just over the crossbar. Orient opened the scoring after 52 minutes as Simon Church smashed in his second goal in as many games from 10 yards after a poor attempted clearance from Leon McSweeney. Chris O'Grady, Dominic Blizzard and Michael Raynes all missed decent half-chances for County to level late on as the O's held on.
