Simon Cox scored twice for Swindon as they eased their relegation fears with a 3-0 win over Hereford who slipped further adrift of safety. Cox, who scored twice from the penalty spot in the 3-0 midweek win over Southend, headed Swindon into a 29th-minute lead after Hereford were caught cold by a short corner routine. Swindon's second goal immediately after half-time was laced with controversy. Three Swindon players looked offside when Owain Tudor Jones played the ball back in to the danger area before Cox got a telling flick past goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi. However, controversial referee Stuart Attwell awarded the goal, amid furious protests from a posse of Hereford players, after a long discussion with his assistant. The goal deflated Hereford, who needed to win to keep their prospects of relegation survival alive. Hal Robson-Kanu struck a post before being involved in Swindon's third goal 15 minutes from time. His neat play on the left opened up the Hereford defence and created a simple chance for Billy Paynter who finished well.
