Play-off chasers Stockport earn a late draw

Anthony Pilkington arrowed home a superb equaliser 16 minutes from time to give play-off chasing Stockport a valuable away point in the 1-1 draw at Swindon. The pacey midfielder was set free by substitute Matty McNeil and he drove the ball into the bottom left-hand corner for his fourth goal of the season. Swindon had taken the lead on the hour mark with a disputed penalty after defender Jim McNulty was adjudged to have pushed Swindon striker Simon Cox in the area. Right-back Jack Smith saw his spot-kick saved by Owain Fon Williams - but followed up to net the rebound for his fourth goal of the season. Cox missed the best chance to open the scoring in a dour first half, after being played through by John-Paul McGovern but somehow managed to put his shot out for a throw-in with the goal at his mercy. Pilkington almost won the game in the 86th minute but saw his fierce volley from 25 yards flash just wide of the left-hand post as Stockport settled for a point.
