Swindon hang on to secure points against Walsall

Danny Wilson celebrated his first win as Swindon boss but it was not all smooth sailing as Walsall hit back from 3-0 down to score twice in 90 seconds late on and set up a nerve-wracking finish. Kevin Amankwaah opened Swindon's account in the eighth minute after loan debutant Gordon Greer laid back a cross from Jon-Paul McGovern to net his first goal in three-and-a-half years. Swindon missed several chances before Simon Cox doubled their lead with a stunning 25-yard half-volley on the half-hour to record his 18th goal of the season. When Billy Paynter scored Swindon's third early in the second half, it appeared all over but Walsall struck twice in 90 seconds to set up a frantic finish. Jabo Ibehre reduced the arrears, pouncing on a slip by Swindon's Jerel Ifil, and then Troy Deeney cut the deficit back to 3-2 with 12 minutes left. But Swindon clung on by their fingernails to secure a first victory under their new manager.
