Schumacher keeps his cool to level from penalty spot

A dramatic stoppage-time goal by substitute Steven Schumacher earned relegation-threatened Crewe a deserved 1-1 draw at Walsall. In the third minute of added time the ball was lobbed into the home goalmouth and two defenders hesitated leaving Schumacher to send a looping header under the bar. Before then only the brilliance of former Crewe star Clayton Ince in the Walsall goal had kept the Saddlers in front after Troy Deeney had put them ahead in the 57th minute. Deeney stooped low to head in a great cross from Alex Nicholls which looked like being the winner despite Crewe's dominance of the approach play. There were remarkable incidents in the first half when in the 39th minute Walsall striker Jabo Ibehre was seemingly hauled down by Danny Woodards but no penalty was awarded and two minutes later the referee waved play on the other end when Ince clearly brought down Byron Moore. With Crewe pushing hard for the equaliser Ince pulled off stunning saves from Clayton Donaldson in the 66th minute and another from the same player after 80 minutes to earn his side a point.
