Striker bags dramatic winner as Leeds keep up record

Leeds United maintained their 100 per cent start to the season after a dramatic fightback saw them beat Walsall 2-1. Bradley Johnson and Jermaine Beckford scored in the final seven minutes to salvage three points from a match which Walsall were on course to win. The Whites looked set to lose their unbeaten record thanks to Sam Parkin's 79th-minute penalty but Johnson and Beckford hit back to preserve Leeds' perfect league record. The first half saw only one chance of note, a volley from Beckford which goalkeeper Clayton Ince turned brilliantly against his left-hand post. The visitors increased the pressure in the second period and Beckford was twice denied by saves from Ince, while Johnson failed to convert a good chance. Walsall were then awarded a penalty after Rui Marques felled Steve Jones inside the box. Parkin stepped up to take the penalty and dispatched it convincingly beyond Shane Higgs but Leeds responded quickly and claimed the point through Johnson's diving header and Beckford's brilliant finish.
