Jordan Cook missed three first-half chances and hit the woodwork twice after the break in Wallsall's goalless draw with Notts County. However, the Magpies could have nicked all thee points when Gary Jones burst though 10 minutes from the end but his drive was tipped over by Richard O'Donnell when the midfielder really should have scored. Walsall's problems in front of goal were underlined by Cook who missed so many chances. In the opening 30 seconds he had only Roy Carroll to beat but, from an angle, he lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper and wide. In the second half he headed against a post then shot against the woodwork again in a two-minute spell. Notts were poor but almost grabbed the lead in the 38th minute. Graham Burke let fly from 25 yards only to see O'Donnell tip the effort over the crossbar. Walsall then had to survive late pressure and are now without a win in five games while the visitors will be pleased with their point, although they remain in the relegation zone.
