Arouna Kone notched a late winner as Wigan beat Norwich 1-0 to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.
Speaking after the game, Wigan boss Martinez acknowledged that the points mattered far more than the performance. "It was very important (to win) as you can imagine, I think the points they are vital to try to increase the points tally," said Martinez. "So today to perform in that manner, to find a way to keep a clean sheet, to find a way to score that all-important goal and restrict Norwich to no shots on target, is a phenomenal effort and a great result." Though Norwich failed to test Wigan keeper Joel Robles, manager Chris Hughton was disappointed to come away with nothing. Hughton said: "At the moment it's not a nice feeling because we're coming away from somewhere where we felt we deserved a little bit more."
