Wolves 2-2 Bolton: Visitors salvage point at Molineux

Bolton staged a dramatic late comeback to salvage a deserved point in a 2-2 Sky Bet Championship draw against Wolves at Molineux.

Bottom-of-the-table Bolton were trailing 2-0 after a third-minute strike from debutant Joe Mason and a 77th-minute goal from substitute James Henry.

But their battling qualities shone through as Wellington Silva reduced the arrears eight minutes from time before Dean Moxey deflected home Stephen Dobbie's 30-yard free-kick in the 88th minute.

Bolton's rally extended Wolves' run without a win to three games and saw them booed off the pitch as they failed to reduce the gap between themselves and the play-offs.

Bolton remain the only side in all four divisions without an away league win this season - drawing four and losing 11 on the road. But the point at Molineux cut the gap between themselves and safety to four points.

Wolves broke the deadlock just seconds after they could have fallen behind themselves.

Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme produced a stunning save to tip a 20-yard drive from Jay Spearing around the post following good build-up play from Bolton's former Wolves midfielder Mark Davies.

From the resulting corner, Wolves surged upfield through Bjorn Sigurdarson. His shot was well saved by goalkeeper Ben Amos but the rebound flew straight to the on-rushing Mason who had the simple task of tapping the ball into an unguarded net from 10 yards to make the perfect start following his £3m move from Cardiff.

Considering Bolton's woeful away record, it would have been easy for them to wilt after the early setback.

But they regrouped and probed for an equaliser with the lively Liam Feeney seeing his rising drive fly just inches over the bar.

Feeney then set up Davies with a left-wing cross but the Bolton skipper was unable to get his header from 12 yards on target.

Wolves were struggling to test Amos and when they finally did scent an opening, Rajiv Van La Parra's route to goal was blocked off by a well-timed challenge from Rob Holding.

Bolton continued to carry more of a threat with Silva seeing his drive saved by Ikeme on the stroke of half-time.

Ikeme was called into action again 10 minutes into the second half to deny Josh Vela after he had ended a run down the right wing with a powerful angled drive.

Silva then saw another shot fly over the bar as Wolves grimly held on to their advantage.

Lennon sent on veteran former England striker Emile Heskey after 66 minutes to try and find a way through the Wolves rearguard but it was the introduction of Henry that proved to be more effective.

Henry had only been on the pitch for two minutes when he waltzed down the right wing and into the penalty area before curling his low drive past the outstretched hand of Amos and just inside his far post.

That looked to have finally ended battling Bolton's challenge but the impressive Silva gave them hope when he nodded the ball home at the far post.

That set up a thrilling finale that Bolton capped off when Moxey got the deftest of touches to Dobbie's long-range free-kick.
