Chesterfield denied by last-gasp Chairboys equaliser

Jon-Paul Pittman's injury-time equaliser salvaged a 1-1 draw for high-flying Wycombe against a very good Chesterfield side at Adams Park. Jack Lester's first-half strike had given the Spireites an early lead but despite being much the better team it wasn't enough to secure a win. The deadlock was broken just after the half-hour when free-scoring Lester stroked into the bottom corner for his 16th strike this season after being found by Aaron Downes. Moments before half-time, Wanderers almost pulled level when Chris Casement's long pass into the box found Chris Zebroski but the forward's header smashed against the bar. Straight after the break the Spireites should have been 2-0 up after Craig Woodman tripped Lester in the box but Jamie Young got a firm hand to Lester's penalty to keep his side in it. The Chairboys pushed hard to get a late equaliser and were rewarded when Pittman turned smartly and slotted home after being found by Nathan Ashton's free-kick.
