Yeovil beat Barnet 1-0 at Huish Park without registering a shot on target to progress into the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Two of the Sky Bet Football League's lowest placed clubs played out a clash largely bereft of meaningful chances - with a first half Bira Dembele own goal ultimately proving the difference.

Martin Allen's men boasted the best of the few early openings with efforts over the bar from Dembele and John Akinde, before Aaron McLean's rifled free-kick from distance clipped the top of the bar.

Yeovil took the lead in comical fashion in the 37th minute without having clocked so much as a shot at goal.

Harry Cornick jinked in from the left and delivered a weak cross which was turned into his own net by the studs of Dembele, trickling in off the post.

The Glovers carved a handful of openings in the second half, but neither Jack Compton nor Matty Dolan had the composure to trouble Bees goalkeeper Jamie Stephens.

With just two wins between them so far, both sides will have more pressing matters pulling away from the Sky Bet League 2 drop zone, but Glovers manager Paul Sturrock will be relieved to bag a victory.
