Second-half goals from Jeremy Sorbon and Mustapha Yatabare helped Guingamp to a 2-0 victory over 10-man Rennes.

Second-half goals from Jeremy Sorbon and Mustapha Yatabare helped Guingamp to their second win in three Ligue 1 games as they edged to a 2-0 victory over 10-man Rennes. Sorbon opened the scoring three minutes after the interval, while their cause was helped greatly by Portugal international Nelson Oliveira's dismissal just after the hour mark. Yatabare ensured there was no way back for Rennes as Guingamp made their one-man advantage pay as they bounced back from last week's defeat at Nice in style. They were indebted to their goalkeeper Guy N'dy Assembe, who made a couple of vital saves. The on-loan Nancy custodian was first called upon to make a fantastic reflex save from Oliveira's strike from close range. Guingamp slowly grew into the match and their first chance came when Claudio Beauvue curled into the side netting, while forward Christophe Mandanne volleyed narrowly over the bar. Beauvue continued to be a thorn in Rennes' side and he took a chance from just outside the area, with Rennes goalkeeper Benoit Costil punching clear. It remained goalless at the break but it took just three minutes after the resumption for the deadlock to be broken. Turkish midfielder Fatih Atik swung in a corner from the left, where Sorbon rose highest to head powerfully into the net. The visitors almost replied straight away but Assembe turned away a fierce strike from Foued Kadir, who was again denied by the home keeper a minute later after running into the area and firing towards the corner. Rennes' hopes then took a blow in the 64th minute as Oliveira, who was booked three minutes earlier, was given his marching orders for a tackle from behind on Mandanne. And six minutes later, they were 2-0 down as Yatabare slotted home from close range after latching on to an amazing pass from Younousse Sankhare.
