Leyton Orient youngster Freddy Moncur has signed his first professional contract at the League Two club.

The 19-year-old, the son of former West Ham midfielder John, joined Orient last summer following his release from the Hammers' youth system.

Moncur, who made two appearances during the 2015-16 campaign, has signed a one-year deal that will keep him at the Matchroom Stadium until the end of next season.

"It feels great to have signed my first professional contract. A lot of work has gone into it and it's a good feeling to now be a professional," the midfielder told Orient's official website.

Mathieu Baudry will leave Leyton Orient and Lloyd James is among seven other players released…

"My dad and brother (George) have both played professionally for a long period of time and it is big boots to fill, but it's the first step and hopefully I can build on that."

He added: "I was really thankful to Ian Hendon for giving me my debut and he involved me so much as well so it is great to have had a taste of it this season.

"To play in front of the home crowd as well was a great feeling. That is what I wanted to achieve when I first joined the club. A big thanks has to go to the youth staff as well along the way.

Colchester have rejected a £150,000 bid from Charlton for midfielder George Moncur - Sky sources…

"When I signed my third year scholarship I wasn't sure what it would be like and I didn't expect to be involved so much. But to get that 3pm matchday experience was a great feeling.

"I want to come back in pre-season, work hard and really push on. I want to get as much game time as possible next season."

Moncur's older brother, George, currently plays for Colchester, but Sky sources understand he will be allowed to leave the club this summer following their relegation to League Two.
