Joe Hart needed his head bandaged up after suffering an injury to his face in Torino’s 2-1 Coppa Italia defeat to AC Milan on Thursday.
The on-loan Manchester City goalkeeper dived at the feet of Gianluca Lapadula to prevent the striker latching on to a pass in the box in the 49th minute of the match at the San Siro.
But he was caught in the face by Lapadula, who looked on in shock after his studs scratched across the goalkeeper's skin.
Hart was tended to by Torino’s medical team and was able to play on with a bandage around his head and gashes down the side of his face.
He even dived again at the feet of Lapadula shortly after the game had restarted.
However, Hart’s bravery did not inspire Torino to victory as they conceded two goals in three minutes in the second half.
Reported Arsenal target Andrea Belotti had given Torino the lead in the first half.
But Juraj Kucka and Giacomo Bonaventura scored in quick succession to send Milan through to the quarter-finals.
Torino face Milan again on Monday in Serie A.
